The art of recycling for a greener environment starts with seeing trash as "abandoned material" so that we can create "Abundance from the Abandoned" in "Amazing Ways".
Is it silly to consider posting my contribution for The World's Best Presentation Contest 2009 here? After all, it is about relationships. So, what is "green" about sustaining relationships? Wait! Before you think that I greedy for votes to win this contest, listen me out.
Imagine setting up home for a family. Now imagine setting up home for the same family in two separate locations because mummy and daddy can't get along anymore. Talk about creating wastage and increase in energy usage, broken marriages and relationships are not going to help reduce them much. Don't you agree? So, here goes my slideshow on relationships. Reduce wastage, let us work on making relationships stick.
A member on SlideShare has started a "Help the Victims of Hurricane IKE" group. You can find many more slides of photos and information about Hurricane Ike posted there.
I took this opportunity to share this contest information with members there by creating a presentation on it:
* Broaden awareness of green debris recycling; * Generate and publicize examples of ways to reduce green house gases through recycling green waste; * Produce a creative, innovative way to reuse materials left by Hurricane Ike; * Identify proposals that make the largest impact.
Any recycling ideas and information should be submitted on the “Participate” page at Recycle Ike by Midnight October 31, 2008 in order to receive a Participant Number. All final proposals must be submitted by Midnight November 14, 2008.
According to an email I received, the contest is open to all interested parties worldwide, regardless of age, discipline, or professional status. Here is what participants stand to win.
1st Place = $10,000 2nd Place = $5,000 3rd Place = $2,500
So, you want to do something for the environment? You do not have the capital to work on it? Here is your solution.
CNN reported that Google will be celebrating their 10th anniversary by giving away US$10 million in February 2009. To win at least US$2 million of that, you need to put on your thinking cap to figure out how to make our world a better place because Google will be picking at least 5 winning ideas.
You have till 20 October 2008 to submit your ideas to Google's Project 10 to the 100. Language should not be a problem as long as you know one of the 25 languages you can submit them in.
Remember that they only want your visionary ideas so just go ahead and submit your dreams even if you do not have the technical expertise to implement them. Let Google worry about that.
Here is a list of issues for you to work on:
* Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures? * Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families? * Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy? * Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem? * Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives? * Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education? * Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live? * Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don't fit into any category at all.
100 semifinalists will be selected by January 27 and the public will get to vote for their favourite submission from January 27 to February 2. Only the top 20 ideas will be selected for review.

Do one better if you can and submit it by 31 July 2008. Even if you do not win, you have started a green bud growing. As a winner, you can create another presentation to say that, "It pays to think green!".
