Why start a library?

I am helping out at a library for children in my community so I can appreciate these points shared by Damone Virgilio on SlideShare.

Most of the books we have in the library were donated by residents of the community whose children have outgrown the books they have collected. This beats recycling them for paper as there are children whose parents cannot afford to buy or are not keen to buy them books to read.

So before you throw away or recycle any books that you have, take a look at the points in the presentation and decide if donating them or starting a library with them would be a better option.

If you are thinking of starting your own library, look out for my presentation on how to set up a library with abandoned materials.
